Fall Marion Market is Saturday in Uptown area

MARION — The Fall Marion Market is this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the temporary location at Eighth Avenue and 12th Street. It will feature more than 25 local vendors with fresh produce, wine, honey, baked goods and artisan items with fall flair.

Enjoy live music by Acoustic Amazon from 9 a.m. to noon and face painting by Lindsay from 10 a.m. to noon. Attendees are encouraged to make it a day in Maron by visiting local restaurants and businesses and enjoying other fall events happening in Uptown.

The Power of Produce (POP) program in partnership with Iowa State University Extension & Outreach — Linn County, will cap off with a special prize for kids who have completed their passport at each market this year. POP Club provides a fun opportunity for children to engage in the local food system through conversations directly with farmers, educational games and demonstrations, and exposure to new fruits and vegetables. The first 30 registered kids at each market receive $3 POP Bucks to shop at participating produce vendors. Produce tasting and other activities will be open to all children while supplies last.

Fall Marion Market is an authorized participant in WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP). Participants should look for vendors displaying the appropriate signs.

Attendees are asked to stay home if they are not feeling well and continue public health protocols such as social distancing and frequent use of hand sanitizer.

• Marion Family Bike Ride departing from the Sixth Avenue side of City Square Park at 1 p.m. for a six-mile family-friendly ride to Waldo’s Rock Park and back.

• Doug T Hypnotist Show at the Klopfenstein Amphitheater at Lowe Park at 6 p.m. Free to attend, bring chairs and blankets for seating. Pizza available for purchase, coolers welcome.
