Cedar Rapids Walk to End Alzheimer’s raises $120,000

CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids-area residents raised $120,000 to support the care, support and research programs of the Alzheimer’s Association in this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
The walk was held at the McGrath Amphitheatre on Saturday with the health and safety of participants, staff and volunteers remaining top priorities. Fundraising continues through the end of the year and donations can be made at alz.org/walk.
Team The Meth-Wick Community, led by Team Captain Katie Christensen, raised $6,600 in honor of their patients and residents.
Other top teams and walkers:
• Top walker Abby Whalen, team captain for the Promise House Pacers, raising more than $3,400;
• Team Dearborn, led by tam captain Karen Sweet, raising almost $6,000
• Team Fye-ting for THE Cause, led by team captain and walk chair Adam O’Rourke, raising more than $5,000 in honor of O’Rourke’s father, who is battling Alzheimer’s, and his grandfather, who passed from Alzheimer’s.
