The annual Balloon Glow event, a Cedar Rapids staple, has been rescheduled for tonight from 6 to 9:30 p.m. after its original date and predetermined 'rain date” were canceled in July.
The Balloon Glow traditionally takes place on the grounds of the historic Brucemore estate but now will be held at the Sinclair Levy - BoTown Entertainment Park. Gates open at 5 p.m.
Hot air balloons are inflated, but do not rise into the air, allowing festivalgoers to observe them up close.
Festivities will be free to attend with a Freedom Festival button. If you did not save your button, one can be purchased for $5 at the event.
Balloons are inflated at the Freedom Festival Balloon Glow at Brucemore Mansion in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. People gathered on the lawn for the annual event, featuring music, favorite local food stands and balloons. (Rebecca F. Miller/The Gazette)
