Area splash pads, pools that are open for Memorial Day weekend

Several area splash pads and pools are scheduled to open for this Memorial Day weekend. Here’s a rundown:
Cedar Rapids
Splash pads in Cedar Rapids parks will open on Saturday. Splash pads are located at Cedar Valley Park, Cleveland Park, Daniels Park, Greene Square, Hayes Park, Hidder Park, Jacolyn Park, Noelridge Park, Redmond Park, Time Check Park and Twin Pines Park. The spray features are activated when a hand is run across the sensor on the fire hydrant or the button is pressed to activate the water. The water is turned on at 9 a.m. each day and turned off at 9 p.m. For more information, call (319) 286-5566.
According to the city’s website, Noelridge Aquatic Center will be open for lap swimming from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. this Saturday through Monday, and open swim from 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Monday. Marion
In Marion, the splash pads at Thomas Park and Gill Park will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday through Labor Day. The splash pad at Willowood Park normally is open when the Marion City Pool is open, but Marion’s website does not yet show information about the pool’s 2022 swimming season.
Iowa City
In Iowa City, splash pads are open daily, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., from Saturday through Labor Day. Closures will occur throughout the season for weather and maintenance. Splash pads are at Wetherby Park, Fairmeadows Park and Tower Court Park.
City Park Pool will have open swim from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday through Monday. Regular pool schedules and pricing rates are available by visiting icgov.org/Pools.
