Your Michigan State two deeps

-- No senior MLB Jeff Tarpinian (stinger). LBs Troy Johnson and Jeremiha Hunter are listed. Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said Johnson was "nicked" and that's why you saw freshman James Morris in the forth quarter. Hunter was in and out of the second half with a knee injury. He returned, but inside the 20 on UW's final drive, freshman Shane DiBona was the WLB.
-- Adam Gettis and Nolan MacMillan are listed as co-starters at right guard. Gettis went the whole way last week. MacMillan might be nursing an injury.
-- CB Jordan Bernstine is on the depth chart, but still nursing a knee injury. He's not playing special teams anymore, either. Greg Castillo is the nickel corner and Tanner Miller is the dime safety.
-- Sean McDonough and Matt Millen are announcing the game on ABC (here). Should be a fun production meeting on Friday.
Here are some snippets of what the duo said about Kirk Ferentz's clock management in Iowa's 31-30 loss to Wisconsin on Saturday.
"What are they doing? That makes no sense," Millen said just after Iowa called timeout with 14 seconds left, forgoing the spike.
"That's a big mistake," McDonough said.
"Now they don't have the timeout and time will run out," McDonough said just after Ricky Stanzi's fatal pitch to running back Adam Robinson.
"Coaching error," McDonough said.
"Poor timeout," Millen said.
Here was SI's Stewart Mandel: "Does Mark Dantonio have anything left in his seemingly bottomless bag of tricks? Will he even need to? The Spartans match up well with the Hawkeyes, and if all else fails, Dantonio can sit back and hope Kirk Ferentz burns his last timeout at the worst possible moment."
The Ferentz-Les Miles comparisons are coming out of the woodwork, if the internet has such . . . wood?
My opinion, Iowa's percentages to win at that point were single digit. Go back to the fake punt.
-- Michigan State is ranked No. 5. It's the highest-ranked opponent Iowa has faced since Penn State last season, when the Nittany Lions were No. 5.
