The Iowa quarterback's name is on MLB.com's list of available in this weekend's baseball draft. One of the fellas at HawkeyeReport.com scouted this out (scroll down a few names):
In 2005, Christensen was drafted in the 50th round by the Cincinnati Reds. He was a three-time letterwinner at Lockport (Ill.) High School. He was regarded enough to be named a preseason all-American by Louisville Slugger. Lockport finished 40-3 and won the Class AA baseball title in 2005.
I have no idea how MLB.com compiled this list or how Christensen's name got on it. I imagine it had a lot to do with him being drafted in '05. After three years, I don't know if a player's name goes back into the draft. Maybe a baseball guy out there can enlighten me. The baseball guy isn't in the office today.
Christensen is listed as a right fielder.
If nothing else, there's a reason to follow the MLB draft, which begins Thursday.
