Week 2 -- The shop class project of a trophy stays put

A horrible first half for Iowa State's offense veered into nightmarish in the third quarter.
The Cyclones moved the initial possession to its 39 and tailback Alexander Robinson fumbled. Linebacker A.J. Edds and safety Tyler Sash converged and the ball came out to linebacker Jeremiha Hunter.
From Iowa State's 48, the Hawkeyes went eight plays and scored on QB Ricky Stanzi's 7-yard pass to wide-open tight end Allen Reisner to make it 21-3 with 9:25 left in the third quarter.
On ISU's next drive, QB Austen Arnaud lofted a lazy pass down the seam into heavy coverage. Free safety Brett Greenwood read it perfectly and came up with his second interception and giving Iowa first down at its 42.
It ended up 35-3 with the Cy-Hawk Trophy staying put. The Hawkeyes (2-0) scored 21 points off six ISU (1-1) turnovers.
Sash locked up Big Ten defensive player of the week. He made it a hat trick on the interceptions with his third in the fourth quarter. He also had double digit tackles and should've been credited for a forced fumble.
It was an otherworldly performance that was nearly matched by free safety Brett Greenwood, who picked off two and assisted on Sash's second with a tipped pass.
Iowa needed just four plays to make it 28-3 with 4:27 left in the third.
Iowa rotated running backs. True freshman Brandon Wegher rushed 14 yards on first down. The next play was a 39-yard pass from Stanzi to WR Trey Stross. After a 4-yard gain and TD that was overturned by review, Wegher flew over the pile from the 1 for his first college TD and a 28-3 lead with 4:27 left.
At that point, Iowa scored 21 points off ISU's five turnovers, including back-to-back in the third quarter. That was game, set and match before a crowd of 52,089 fans at Jack Trice Stadium, a very, very silent stadium in the second half.
Arnaud had four interceptions before being replaced by Jerome Tiller late in the third quarter. Stanzi had two picks in the first half, but settled down with with a 3-for-4 effort in the third quarter for 57 yards and a TD.
