Wayward running backs news

Former Iowa running backs are in the news today.
According to a report from KMTV (Omaha, Neb.), Brandon Wegher will enroll at Oklahoma and, presumably, play football for the Sooners. Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz and OU's Bob Stoops are good friends from their days in Iowa City.
Wegher, who became a father in November, rushed for 641 yards and eight TDs as a true freshman at Iowa in 2009. His eight TDs are a freshman record. Wegher left the Hawkeyes after the second practice of fall camp and never returned. He asked for his release in early December. Iowa granted it with the stipulation that he wouldn't go to another Big Ten school.
Adam Robinson, Iowa's leading rusher the last two seasons, pleaded guilt to marijuana possession today. He received a deferred judgment, with a $315 court fee, one year probation and completion of substance abuse program.
Robinson, a sophomore, was cited for marijuana possession by the Iowa State Patrol on Monday, Dec. 27, the night before the Hawkeyes' Insight Bowl against Missouri.
On Jan. 3, Ferentz released a statement saying Robinson had been dismissed from the team.
“Running Back Adam Robinson has been dismissed from The University of Iowa Football team,” said Ferentz.

Iowa running backs Brandon Wegher (3, left) and Adam Robinson (32) celebrate the Hawkeyes' 20-10 win over Wisconsin at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009. Now, Wegher is headed to Oklahoma after taking a leave of absence and fathering a child in '10 and, today, Robinson plead guilty to marijuana possession. (Liz Martin/The Gazette)
