Warning to Iowa fans: Don't bring your bags or umbrellas to Camp Randall on Saturday

You can't bring bags into Wisconsin's Camp Randall Stadium Saturday at the Iowa-Wisconsin game.

That's right, no bags. And no backpacks. No purses.

No umbrellas. Even if it's raining.

This, from today's Capital Times in Madison:

The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security issued a bulletin three weeks ago to raise awareness of "terrorist interest" in attacking stadiums and luxury hotels, and the warning affected security operations around the country, including at Camp Randall.

The carry-in ban was in effect for the Sept. 26 football game between Wisconsin and Michigan State, and will remain in effect for the final three home games, including Saturday's game against Iowa, the Oct. 31 game against Purdue and the Nov. 14 game against Michigan.

"No specific threats have been made against Camp Randall Stadium," the police department said in a press release on Wednesday. "University police and athletic officials will continue to monitor the national threat level which remains at yellow."

The times, oh, how they've changed. There was a time when Wisconsin games didn't draw half of the 80,000 fans they'll have at Saturday's sellout. And there was a time when this e-mail I received from an Iowa grad Wednesday was probably proven true:

I think I went to my first Iowa-Wisconsin game in Madison in 1976 as a high school senior. They had a keg in the north stands.
