Video: Dan McCarney talks about Hayden Fry

Last Thursday in Houston, Hayden Fry received the Bear Bryant Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.
That meant something at Iowa, where Fry coached football for 20 years, and at the University of North Texas, where Fry was the head coach from 1973-1978. It was North Texas State then, and it won 40 games over Fry's six seasons.
Dan McCarney served on Fry's Iowa coaching staffs for 11 years before becoming defensive coordinator at Wisconsin, head coach at Iowa State for 11 seasons, an assistant at South Florida and Florida, and head coach at North Texas. His first Mean Green team went 5-7, the school's best season since 2004.
