KF on Big Ten teleconferenceOn Coker: "All he's got to do is bounce back. Marcus is a good football player first of all and more importantly he's a quality person. We've all had bad outings, as players and as coaches. Any profession you're in, that's part of life. He was disappointed. I'm proud he didn't use the weather or conditions as a crutch. We're all moving on. That's what he's going to do. When you're around a guy who's a good player and a good person, we're banking on him. I'm sure he'll have a good week of practice and come back and improve this week." On who's after Coker: "Basically, anybody who's with us. Starts with Jason White. We'll see what De'Andre Johnson does this week in practice. We have two freshmen. Damon Bullock, we've been fooling around with him in the slot. We'll probably move him back more predominantly in the back field and Jordan Canzeri as well. We'll just keep working all the guys and whoever does the best during the week will be the guys who see action on Saturday." Update on Norm Parker: "Norm is continuing to improve. . . . Really has made progress. Doing well, good to have him back." How important is it to have a mentor: "We were very fortunate to have Norm Parker and Carl Jackson. . . . Both those guys were veterans coaches who had been through a lot of experiences in football and life as well." Iowa State and what kind of rivalry: "I don't know what to compare it to in our conference, two different BCS conferences. Football is great in the state of Iowa, across the board. -- It's more fun to be on the winning end than the losing end." On Iowa State: "They're a little like us. Veteran and young players. Two relatively inexperienced quarterbacks. Their guy, tough start but played very well in the fourth quarter. I think he got through his first-game jitters." On Marvin McNutt: "Marvin is one of the guys we're counting on to be a top play for us. Really did a nice job finishing both the plays he scored on. We're counting on him for that all season long." On D-line (Nardo and Daniel): "It was a good start. Broderick Binns and Mike Daniels are guys we are counting on. I think the big thing is we'll end up playing all those guys. We don't have the personnel to just line up four or five guys and go the whole game." On James Morris: "He's certainly more comfortable. Good to see him settle down and play the way he's capable of. I didn't realize that was his first interception." Stay tuned for more from Ferentz's Tuesday news conference, which begins at 12:30.
News conference
McCall out for awhile. "Toughest part about football. He invested a lot of work." Could be back at the end of the year, Ferentz said.
Most disappointing was putting the ball on the ground four times.
Ferentz agrees this is Paul Rhoads best team. Jantz gave them a chance.
Didn't tackle well on defense or ST.
Redshirts will come off RBs, including Canzeri.
On Vandenberg: "We don't exactly have John Elway back there."
Iowa will be dwarfed up front, KF said.
Jason White is No. 2.
When Big Ten goes to nine conference games in '07, KF glad ISU will stay.
DT Carl Davis is cleared. LB Dakota Getz practiced last week.
Alternate uniform, approached and thought about it? KF: No and no.
KF: We won't change our uniforms, no Pro Combat.
