Tuesday video -- 'Bad junior high team' (w/ transcript)
Marc Morehouse
Sep. 20, 2011 3:14 pm
If you haven't let go of the Iowa State defeat yet, you're not alone.
Iowa's defense went through an overhaul in that game. Want to know why? Check video 2 at about 3:35. The defensive coaches took a hard look after that game and made the changes that needed to be made.
Now, as Kirk Ferentz said today, Iowa has a chance to be a good defense.
(BTW, I watched my son's sixth-grade team play Sunday night. Even bad can be beautiful in the eye of the beholder.)
The "Walk Off" portion covered KF's owly moments with officials last week, the changes in the defense ("this is a competitive exercise" "we're a developmental team at best, we certainly didn't think we had all the answers coming out of preseason"), Bruce Davis' departure (Tyler Nielsen is No. 2 MLB), some no-huddle stuff but again, no "we're going to do that for sure from here on out" kind of statement (not even close), Damon Bullock recruitment and on Keenan Davis.
Also, there was an update on LB Jim Poggi. He's still out with the shoulder injury.
Coach Kirk Ferentz - 09 20 11 - Revised
This isn't measuring water. Kirk Ferentz is showing where WR Keenan Davis' level of play is headed. Seriously, that's what's being discussed.
