There almost was a Nebraska Cornhuskers television network

CHICAGO -- "We were well on our way to forming our own network at Nebraska," NU Athletic Director Tom Osborne said Friday.
But then the Cornhuskers joined the Big Ten. Osborne said revenue sharing of football and bowl-game gates was a big lure to Nebraska, even though it did very well financially under the Big 12's system. Osborne compared the Big Ten's revenue sharing to the NFL's, and the Big 12's system to Major League Baseball. He clearly thinks the NFL's works better.
"That inequity always led to a bit of discomfort in the Big 12," he said, "even though we probably benefitted from that."
That said, you talk about Big Ten revenue ...
OK, what else have I got for you? Well, how about this:
First and foremost, you're welcome for the free advertising, Hy-Vee. If you'd like to send me a coupon for a free Chinese dinner or a 12-pack of soda pop, go ahead. It's a brave, new media world out there and the ethics are probably changing as I type this. Plus, if state universities of Iowa and Nebraska are taking Hy-Vee's loot, count me in, too. I worked at one for three years.
But I'm not making fun of "Heroes Game" ever again. Never. Never ever.
