The Walkthrough -- Robinson out
Marc Morehouse
Nov. 6, 2010 7:28 am
-- Koeppel in for Gettis . . .
The right guard today is fifth-year senior Josh Koeppel. He's stepping in for junior Adam Gettis, who left last week with an ankle injury. The other right guard, Nolan MacMillan, is here. He's been out a few years with, I think, a shoulder injury.
That's it.
Let's kick this off before I nod out.
-- LBs are . . .
James Morris, Jeremiha Hunter and Shane DiBona on the outside.
-- Vandervelde looks like a go
He suffered a hip pointer against MSU. He's dressed and ready to play, I think.
-- Hunter dressed
WLB Jeremiha Hunter is dressed for play and looks as if he will. Brace on right knee.
-- More Robinson
Kirk Ferentz just said on pregame radio that he expects RB Adam Robinson to return to practice on Tuesday.
-- Don't forget Paki O'Meara
He's out there and going through drills like he's going to play. He suffered a concussion at Arizona and hasn't carried the ball since Eastern Illinois. His concussion problems have led to him being taken off some special teams, like kick cover.
Don't know if that means he can't play RB. Looks like we're going to find out.
-- Don't forget Jason White
Jason White is out there. He is a running back. He sprained a knee on special teams against Iowa State. He's good to go today. Wonder if he's in the plans.
-- More Robinson
Didn't make the trip, according to one of the TV stations that ends in "N." The BTN, I'm now told.
Robinson isn't here. Brad Rogers did an abnormal amount of stretching. I'm thinking he plays a little today.
-- No Murray
Senior kicker Daniel Murray is not here. He still feels the lingering effects of a hip flexor strain. His official role is squib kicks, but I think that's more out of farewell tour.
-- DJK scouting report
Here's a scouting report on Iowa WR Derrell Johnson-Koulianos from NEPatriots.com.
Strength is a strength for DJK. He needs to work on route running, according to NEPatriots.
-- More on Robinson
He might be on a 10-day, no exertion watch with his concussion, which happened in the fourth quarter on his second-to-last carry. It was a blindside helmet-to-helmet from MSU LB Eric Gordon. Robinson also fumbled on the play, the first of his career. Robinson went 351 carries without a fumble. So, you know it was serious.
Concussions vary, but one general rule is 10 days with no exertion, which is the next step for Robinson.
-- Stanzi out . . . on the field
Senior QB Ricky Stanzi is doing his pregame warmup with backup QBs and managers.
Sophomore James Vandenberg is out there. He tweaked his back before last week's game and wasn't able to mop up, so Stanzi went the distance, even when it was 37-6. He's OK today, it looks like.
-- Robinson out
Iowa radio play-by-play voice Gary Dolphin just announced that RB Adam Robinson is out today.
Suffered a concussion against Michigan State. Sent home from practice Tuesday.
Here's the post from Wednesday.
Have a Coker and a smile. (Totally aged myself with Coca-Cola reference.)
-- Indiana's final home game
This is it for the Hoosiers. They'll play a "home" game in two weeks at Fed Ex Field in Washington D.C. IU was paid $3 million to switch a home game there against Penn State.
Fed Ex is the second biggest NFL stadium in the 93,000 range. There aren't 93,000 people within a 30-mile radius of Memorial Stadium right now. I wonder how this is going to look on TV.
-- Robinson
Nothing definitive on RB Adam Robinson. He was concussed against Michigan State. I heard Tuesday he was 50-50. We'll know for sure in about an hour.
Pressbox chatter has him here but not playing. I have not heard that, at least not yet. It sure sounds plausible and would make a ton of sense, given what Iowa has coming up on the schedule.
-- Linebackers
No clue where this one is going to go except that James Morris will start at MLB.
WLB and OLB, I'm just as interested as you are.
Hello
We flew in to Bloomington this morning. Got here about 7:30 a.m.
It's cold here, colder than Iowa. Bloomington clocked in at 18 degrees. Still saw a bunch of Hawkeye people tailgating away.
I cropped them out of the above photo, but the IU band is out practicing.
This is almost surreal. It's sooooo early and this place is soooo quiet. It's hard to believe a Big Ten football game will kick off in a few hours.
More updates to follow. I need coffee.
In the house
Colts GM Bill Polian is here. It's only 50 miles from Indy. The Colts draft a ton of Hawkeyes. Why not?
The only bowl in the house is the Capital One Bowl.
It's a map and a logo.
What's the frequency, Kenneth?
