The Sports Desk: 'On Iowa' goes under the lights

Late last week, the Big Ten Network announced the Hawkeyes' Oct. 15 game against Northwestern at Kinnick Stadium would kick off at 6 p.m., giving the Hawkeyes one night game for the 2011 season. That's down from three last year (including the Insight Bowl) and four in 2009 (including the Orange Bowl).
The On Iowa crew discusses Iowa night games, among other things, on Monday's Sports Desk (sponsored by Jim Miller Subaru). Here's a link to the five minutes of discussion.
Something is going to give Oct. 15 at Kinnick. Of course, you know about Iowa's recent struggles with the Wildcats. NU has beaten Iowa in five of the last six, including three straight overall and three straight at Kinnick. The Hawkeyes are 6-1 in their last seven night games, with the only loss in that span coming at Arizona.
We also talked Big Ten championship venues. The Big Ten could very well end up splitting the sites, with Indianapolis and Lucas Oil getting football (indoor facility) and Chicago landing the men's and women's basketball tournaments (better attendance). An answer could come in June when university presidents from the Big Ten meet in Chicago.
And, because we didn't get a chance to discuss it last Monday, we touch on the departure (closure) of running back Adam Robinson. Yes, it was always inferred, but coach Kirk Ferentz said last Tuesday, "He won't be with us." It hadn't been spoken so definitely until last Tuesday. Also, running back Rodney Coe has some work academic work to do before arriving on campus.
There are 113 days until college football season starts.
