South Carolina Loses a Key Ingredient for Outback
Mike Hlas Dec. 17, 2008 11:55 am
South Carolina starting safety Emanuel Cook (No. 21) has been declared academically ineligible for the Gamecocks' Outback Bowl game against Iowa.
Spurrier says Cook, a junior, failed to pass the minimum six hours required by the NCAA to be eligible for a bowl game.
Cook has led South Carolina in tackles for the past two years, with 92 tackles last season and 87 this year. He was named to the 2008 Associated Press All-Southeastern Conference second team.
