Sights and sites around college sports, part II
Jun. 19, 2012 7:37 am
As part of our many journeys covering sports, we encounter interesting, impromptu moments, whether it's in Iowa City or elsewhere. This week I'm throwing out a few random pictures and videos from the most recent college sports season. Here are a few:
Michigan State students in the 'Izzone' prefer reading the newspaper than paying attention to the Spartans' starting lineups. One of the best atmospheres in college sports. (Scott Dochterman/The Gazette)
Statue of Magic Johnson outside the Breslin Center.
Sparty joined the party at Michigan State. (Scott Dochterman/The Gazette)
The temporary Cy-Hawk Trophy for last year's annual game at Ames. It was smashed to bits in the post-game celebration in a 44-41 Iowa State win. (Scott Dochterman/The Gazette)
The Northern Iowa and Iowa mascots taunted each other throughout their basketball game last fall. It's probably the final regular-season game between the two schools at UNI's McLeod Center. (Scott Dochterman/The Gazette)
