Iowa City West quarterback Charles Rogers is taking an unofficial visit to his hometown this weekend.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder will visit Iowa this weekend, according to HawkeyeReport.com. Rogers has three offers (Iowa State, Minnesota and Northern Illinois). Last season at West, he passed for 1,351 yards and rushed for another 689 with 15 total touchdowns.
Earlier this summer, Rogers told HawkeyeReport.com that he will be playing more defense this season.
Rogers camped at Iowa this summer and didn't receive an offer, but he knows it could still happen.
"I know coach [Kirk] Ferentz has said that a lot of their current players didn't get an offer until after their senior season," Rogers told HR.com. "He used Ricky Stanzi as an example because he didn't get an offer until around Thanksgiving his senior year. I guess they move kind of slow with the whole process sometimes."
Going into the season, the Hawkeyes have 10 commitments for the 2012 recruiting class.
