Quotes from the Iowa interview room after 30-28 win over Michigan
Mike Hlas Oct. 11, 2009 1:08 am
Ricky Stanzi (on Tony Moeaki, who had two TD catches, and leads Iowa in scoring receptions with 3 despite only playing in 3 games): "He's a big target and guy that can run after he catches it. He also did a great job of blocking in our offense. When he slips out into the open for passes he's great at catching the football, getting on the run and getting to the end zone. He has a knack for finding the end zone.
"He brings a lot of energy to our geam. Everybody loves the kid; he's a great football player and a hard worker. His character is really what this team is looking for, and he's obviously one of our leaders."
(on being 6-0) "There's no reason to celebrate winning the ballgame. That's what we planned on doing. There's still a lot of things we can work on."
WR Troy Stross: "We've got some good receivers. I'm hoping people will recognize that now.
"We're going to keep going deep on people."
(On being 6-0) "That's the goal. We just hope to keep it going."
Offensive guard Dace Richardson: "It's very special for the senior class who have never beaten Michigan. It's a great achievement for us."
"People think of tight ends as just another passing receiver. But Tony's run-blocking is just as good as the offensive line's."
Richardson said Moeaki has his own "pancake" technique of blocking and "we try to match him."
"But he's also got the speed to be a good receiver."
