Phil Steele is the man, the myth, the legend among college football preseason list-compilers and magazine-preparers.
The Mighty One has released his preseason All-America teams, which go four deep. Just three players represent the Big Ten, and two are from Nebraska. They are defensive lineman Jared Crick and cornerback Alfonzo Dennard. The other Big Ten first-teamer is Ohio State center Mike Brewster.
Joining them on the first-team are seven players from the Big 12 including offensive tackle Kelechi Osemele, who was a second-team preseason All-America pick by The Sporting News and Lindy's Sports.
Two Iowa Hawkeyes got on Steele's All-America list. Offensive tackle Riley Reiff is a third-teamer, and wide receiver Marvin McNutt is on the fourth team.
Of the 112 players selected by Steele, just 14 come from the Big Ten, and six of the 12 league schools are not represented. Nebraska and Michigan State have three players named, and Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin join Iowa with two.
Steele had 25 Southeastern Conference players on his list.
