Penn State going to great lengths to make its football stadium louder
Mike Hlas May. 10, 2010 12:12 pm
Believe this or not, and I'm not sure I do. But ...
Penn State is employing scientific research to make its Beaver Stadium 50 percent louder for Nittany Lions football games.
According to this blog item on Gizmodo, a site devoted mostly to gadget use, Penn State is relocating its student section to the part of the stadium where its raucousness will be the most effective in creating a Lions' roar.
Wrote post author Brian Barrett:
The move is expected to cut the range of a quarterback's voice by an additional six inches, meaning more false starts, more penalties, and more opportunities for the Nittany Lions.
Now if we could just figure out a way to cap that oil spill.
