NFL: What's good for one ex-Hawkeye isn't good for another
Mike Hlas Sep. 22, 2011 4:48 pm
You couldn't make this stuff up. And, as Conan O'Brien added to that statement many times in his "Actual Items" comedy bits, why would you?
Thursday, the New England Patriots signed former Iowa linebacker Jeff Tarpinian off its practice roster. To make room for Tarpinian, the Patriots released former Iowa linebacker A.J. Edds.
Twelve days earlier, the Minnesota Vikings signed rookie tight end Allen Reisner of Iowa off their practice squad. To make room on the roster for Reisner, the Vikings released ... another ex-Hawkeye. Guard Seth Olsen was cut.
That's crazy. Twice in 12 days a Hawkeye got cut by an NFL team to make way for another Hawkeye.
Tough racket, the NFL.
