According to HawkeyeInsider.com, Omaha Millard North linebacker Cole Fisher has committed to play football at the University of Iowa.
Fisher, 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, picked the Hawkeyes over Kansas. He didn't have an offer from Nebraska. Fisher's dad, Todd, played for Nebraska in the '80s. His brother, Sean, made six starts as a redshirt freshman linebacker last fall for the Huskers.
Last season, Cole Fisher was an all-state defensive back for Millard North, the same school that produced former Iowa defensive back Adam Shada, former offensive lineman Seth Olsen and current middle linebacker Jeff Tarpinian.
Iowa was the first school to offer Fisher back in early November of 2009. He suffered a torn ACL in December while playing basketball for Millard. He told HawkeyeReport.com that he plans to be back for football this fall.
Fisher had 80 tackles for Millard last season.
Iowa now had 12 commitments for the 2011 recruiting class.
