My predictions for 2011
Mike Hlas Dec. 30, 2010 11:28 pm
I don't do predictions for the coming year.
One, they're dumb.
Two, if you get something really right in a really bright way, you're very lucky. And no one remembers, anyhow. So you have to remind people, and then you look like a braggart.
Like when I predicted before the 2010 season that Iowa quarterback Ricky Stanzi would have 27 touchdown passes and just 7 interceptions, and he finished the season the other night with 25 TD passes and just 6 picks. That would be bragging. When the closeness of my prediction was merely a very lucky guess. And meaningless.
I'm tired. I got home from Tempe almost two full days after the last play of the Insight Bowl. I'll have the details about that -- for humor's sake, I think - in days to come. Or not. I wouldn't hazard a prediction, either way.
