IOWA CITY - Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 30 points and hit a pair of free throws late to lift Michigan past Iowa 75-72 in overtime today at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Iowa had opportunities to win the game in regulation and tie it in overtime but couldn't knock down shots either time.
For a first-half recap, read below:
Iowa point guard Bryce Cartwright hit a half-court shot at the buzzer that was waved off, but Iowa still leads 32-24 at halftime against Michigan today at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Iowa trailed 14-4 but rallied with a 26-6 run to lead by as many as 10 with 3:18 left in the half.
Cartwright's shot was set up on an inbounds steal by Matt Gatens with 3.2 seconds left in the half. Gatens then tossed the ball to Cartwright, who launched a shot at the buzzer that went in. Officials reviewed the shot, and lead official Ed Hightower determined the ball was still on Cartwright's fingertips when the buzzer sounded, according to Iowa sports information director Phil Haddy.
Iowa shot 52.4 percent from the floor. Melsahn Basabe scored 10 points to lead the Hawkeyes.
