Live ISU blog from New York
Dec. 28, 2011 11:08 am
After nearly 20 hours of traveling (and sitting in airports and on runways) I arrived in New York City about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. That's about 9 hours later than originally planned and means I missed all availability with Iowa State's players on Tuesday at Yankee Stadium.
Enough about me and my "fun" day of travel. Iowa State's players and coaches are working out at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. It's located across the street from the Nassau Coliseum, which plays host to the New York Islanders. Today the Cyclones are practicing in helmets, jerseys and shorts and concentrating on special teams. A handful of reporters and photographers were allowed to see the first few minutes of practice but now are relegated to a suite at Hofstra's lacrosse field (and former football stadium).
Here are a couple more pictures from the 80-minute round-trip drive from the Brooklyn hotel to Iowa State's practice field. I'll have more updates throughout the day.
