Let's jump the gun and rename the Big 12

It's one thing for the Big Ten to keep its name even with 12 members. That's fake humility. Sure, we're 12, but we'll just say we're 10. How can anyone get mad at that?
But the Big 12 can't stay the Big 12 if it stays together with 10 schools, can it? Who wouldn't ridicule that? And it can't be the Big Ten, because that name is, uh, taken.
So, let's say the 10 remaining Big 12 schools stay together. Dennis Dodd of CBSsports.com has suggested the Tentative Ten.
That may be hard to top, but you can do it. Go.
And for those of a Big Ten bent who may feel uncharitable, know the Big 12 has produced national-champs in football and men's basketball more recently than the Big Ten.
