Nov. 17, 2010 5:38 pm
Center Jordan Eglseder, who helped Northern Iowa to a Sweet 16 finish in the NCAA men's basketball tournament last March, has earned a roster spot with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA D-League.
The Vipers are affiliated with the NBA's Houston Rockets, who signed Eglseder to a training camp contract in September and allocated him to Rio Grande Valley.
Eglseder's former UNI teammates, Adam Koch and Ali Farokhmanesh, are playing for teams in the Czech Republic and Switzerland, respectively.
Former Iowa player Cyrus Tate, who finished his college career in 2009, was waived by the D-League's Bakersfield Jam on Wednesday. The D-League season starts later this week.
Rio Grande Valley waived ex-Iowa State player Marquis Gilstrap last week.
