May. 2, 2013 8:00 am
Former Iowa State star player Jeff Hornacek is a candidate to become the next head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Sixers have asked the Utah Jazz for permission to interview Hornacek, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Hornacek has been a Utah assistant for three seasons. He played there for several years. He played for the 76ers for two of his 14 seasons after he had a distinguished career at Iowa State for coach Johnny Orr.
Hornacek came to Iowa State as a walk-on. Not many walk-ons were as good. He went on to score 15,659 NBA regular-season points, and another 2,092 in the playoffs.
