IOWA CITY - With a six-day break between games, Iowa Coach Fran McCaffery plans to recruit in full force this week.Iowa (10-17, 3-12 Big Ten) lost 75-72 to Michigan in overtime last Saturday. Iowa next will play at Illinois this Saturday.
"So what we'll do is work on our stuff, and it's also a chance to give our players two days off," McCaffery said. "You get to this point in the season a little bit tired. We won't go back-to-back with days off. We're off (Sunday), we'll practice today, we'll be off (Tuesday). It will also give our staff an opportunity to to recruit. I went recruiting (Sunday); I'm going to go recruiting (Tuesday). So you just adjust.
"When you have a week off, you maximize by helping your whole team and then you get a chance to recruit."
Iowa has two available scholarships for next season. Cedar Rapids Washington guard Josh Oglesby and Strongsville (Ohio) forward Aaron White already have signed letters of intent to play this fall.
McCaffery and his staff will work on fundamentals the first few days rather than plans specific to opponents.
"We won't prep for Illinois any earlier," McCaffery said. "We're pretty locked in to where we prepare for other teams."
