Iowa State football team on Friday night prime-time on ESPN this September
Mike Hlas Feb. 25, 2011 10:26 am
Iowa State's football team will have a national-television audience on Sept. 16 when it plays at Connecticut, as is reported here by ISU senior associate athletics director Steve Malchow.
The Friday night game will air on either ESPN or ESPN2. It is the first time the Cyclones had a regular-season game on ESPN since 2006, which seems incredible, but reflects the kind of TV deals the Big 12 Conference has had for football.
Connecticut is no slouch. The Huskies won the Big East in 2010 and advanced to the Fiesta Bowl.
This game will come on the heels of ISU's home game against Iowa on Sept. 10. The Cyclones' other nonconference game is at home against Northern Iowa on Sept. 3. The Big 12 switches to
a 9-game league schedule this year.
