TIME SET FOR IOWA-MICHIGAN FOOTBALL
IOWA CITY, IA. – Iowa's Oct. 16th football game at Michigan will start at 2:30 p.m. (Iowa time) and will be televised by ABC. The announcement came today from the Big Ten Conference.
The contest is Michigan's homecoming game.
The Michigan contest is the second conference game on Iowa's schedule and both have been selected for television outside of the Big Ten Network. Iowa's league opening game against Penn State, on Oct. 2nd in Iowa City, will begin at 7 p.m. and will be televised by ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.
Starting times for other Iowa games have not yet been announced.
________
I still believe Arizona will be a 9:30 kick Iowa time.
Let's try to run some predictions of kick-off times. (Why not, it's May.)
9-4 -- Eastern Illinois at Kinnick: This has 11 a.m. written all over it. Only way it'd change is if the Big Ten Network wanted to do something crazy. I don't see Iowa hosting two night games a season.
9-11 -- Iowa State at Kinnick: Again, 11 a.m. Unless ESPN2 or the BTN wanted to showcase it in some way, shape or form. Could happen. We're talking about two bowl winners and a strong rivalry.
9-18 -- At Arizona: I'm thinking 9 or 9:30 kick Iowa time. Some confusion on channel, but either ESPN or FoxSportsNet. Thinking night game here.
9-25 -- Ball State at Kinnick: 11 a.m. Don't see any other possibility.
10-2 -- Penn State at Kinnick: We know this is a 7 p.m. kick. You folks seem to enjoy night games. This will not disappoint. The Nits will, however, come into Kinnick a little more battle-tested than they were last year. They go to Alabama on 9-11.
BYE WEEK: Anyone want to go muskie fishing on Oct. 9 weekend?
10-16 -- At Michigan: 2:30 p.m., your classic ABC showcase game, before the 7 p.m. game became the classic showcase.
10-23 -- Wisconsin at Kinnick: This will be 11 a.m. or 2:30. Could be 2:30 because Wisconsin will have played Ohio State the previous week. A lot of the talk now has Ohio State, Iowa and Wisconsin as the teams to beat in the Big Ten this year. Luckily, all three teams play each other.
10-30 -- Michigan State at Kinnick: Because Iowa is 99.9 percent sure it won't host two night games this season, I'm thinking 11 a.m. But last season's night game at MSU was a huge score for the BTN and they did it up well. Excellent production. But I'm 99.9 percent sure Iowa won't host another night game this season.
11-6 -- At Indiana: 11 a.m. No Big Ten night games in November, at least for this season. I see that rule being reconsidered.
11-13 -- At Northwestern: 11 a.m. Unless the 'Cats are having that Cinderella season, I don't see this moving to the 2:30 slot.
11-20 -- Ohio State at Kinnick: 2:30 p.m., ABC. If the Big Ten allowed November night games, this one would be 7 p.m. ABC. Alas, it's a prime 2:30 candidate.
11-27 -- At Minnesota: Probably 11 a.m. Remember, Gophs are outdoors now at TCF Bank. If Iowa is running for the Roses (eventhough the Rose Bowl is stuck in a misguided promise to a non-BCS conference school), then maybe 2:30.
