Iowa Hawkeyes in the NFL, 8.1.12 -- A.J. Edds to miss another season with injury

Aug. 1, 2012 8:00 am
It happened to him as a rookie with the Miami Dolphins in 2010, and it's happened to him this week with the Indianapolis Colts.
Linebacker A.J. Edds of Iowa suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in training camp and will miss the season. Edds tore the ACL in his left knee on Sunday. Two years ago, it was his right knee.
Tough racket, pro football.
In the Kansas City Chiefs camp, former Iowa center Rob Bruggeman is battling for the back-up job at that position.
Likewise, ex-Hawkeye quarterback Ricky Stanzi is trying to be No. 2 at his spot.
Rookie Mikail Baker intercepted a Stanzi pass in the end zone at Tuesday's practice.
Chiefs quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn offered this encouraging take on Stanzi's progress two weeks ago:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Coach Greg Schiano had warm words for Bucs tight end Dallas Clark in a tbo.com story.
"I'm really excited to have Dallas on our club,'' Schiano said. "Not only how well he's performed so far, but the leadership, maturity, all those things that he brings. I think he's going to be a key part of what we do."
