Iowa basketball notes: Talented recruit to miss visit; 'Payback' in Lansing?
Mar. 2, 2011 4:41 am
Point guard Cezar Guerrero, Iowa's most highly anticipated potential recruit since (insert name here ... Malcolm Armstead?) will not visit the school this weekend as previously reported, according to both HawkeyeReport.com and Hawkeye Insider.com.
Guerrero is considered among the best point guards available for the 2011 class. Rivals.com just labeled him as the nation's 10th-best crowd-pleasing player.
Guerrero, who hails from Bellflower, Calif., apparently has an academic commitment that cannot be rescheduled. He still plans to visit Iowa at some point. We'll see.
'Payback' in East Lansing?'
Underachieving Michigan State (16-12) is on the NCAA Tournament bubble, and Spartan players are evoking their last performance against Iowa in an effort to motivate themselves.
Iowa blew out the Spartans 72-52 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Feb. 2.
"One of the most embarrassing moments of my life," Michigan State's Draymond Green told the Detroit Free Press this week. "This game ... is definitely payback," Green said.
Iowa has lost 16 straight to Michigan State in East Lansing dating to 1993.
