Iowa 9-3 in Big Ten football this year? One site says yes, sort of

Jun. 7, 2012 2:33 pm
How do you know it's early June? It's when a Web site called Beyond The Bets is publishing point-spreads for all 798 regular-season games involving FBS teams in 2012 and I'm writing something about it here. I know it's silly, but this is sports, not global economics.
The site even has lines on matchups between FBS and FCS teams, something Nevada casinos never post.
Well, if Beyond The Bets is right, Iowa will go 9-3. Which is better than any preseason magazines I know are suggesting.
Here are the site's projections on games that range from three to six months away:
Iowa -10 vs. Northern Illinois in Chicago
Iowa -7.5 vs. Iowa State
Iowa -24.5 vs. Northern Iowa
Iowa -24 vs. Central Michigan
Iowa -13.5 vs. Minnesota
Michigan State -10.5 vs. Iowa
Iowa -6 vs. Penn State
Iowa -1 at Northwestern
Iowa -11.5 at Indiana
Iowa 6.5 vs. Purdue
Michigan -14 vs. Iowa
Nebraska -3 at Iowa
So that means a 5-3 Big Ten record.
But here's the kicker: In another article, Beyond The Bet says Iowa will go 4-4 in the Big Ten.
Which is kind of symbolic of how serious to take this stuff right now. It's for fun. So no harm done.
But ... if you could put a coin or two on any of these spreads right now, what would you choose?
You could dance to nine wins, right?
