Iowa 30-1 to win the 2010 BCS title -- on one site
Mike Hlas May. 28, 2010 10:50 am
The first set of odds on winning the 2010 BCS championship that I've seen come from sportsbook.com, and as the headline to this post gave away, Iowa is a 30-to-1 shot.
I don't know if that sounds high or what. The Hawkeyes were 100-to-1 at vegasinsider.com before last season started, which probably had their bettors filled with joy as October turned into November and Iowa was 9-0.
Eleven teams have lower odds than Iowa at sportsbook.com. They are:
Alabama 4.5-1
Ohio State 5-1
Nebraska 10-1
Boise State 12-1
Florida 12-1
TCU 15-1
Texas 15-1
Virginia Tech 15-1
USC 15-1
Oregon 20-1
LSU 25-1
Arkansas, Miami and Oklahoma are 30-1. Wisconsin is 40-1, Penn State 50-1, Notre Dame 80-1.
The other Big Ten teams that are listed: Illinois 100-1, Michigan 100-1, Michigan State 100-1.
The other Big 12 teams that are listed: Missouri 100-1, Baylor 100-1, Oklahoma State 100-1.
Notre Dame is 80-1.
Boise State plays Virginia Tech in the first week of the season to pretty much wipe out one of those low-odds teams.
If you don't like the prices listed, wait. Nevada casino sportsbooks will put up their numbers fairly soon, and they'll probably differ in many instances from the online versions.
