If you'd bet on nothing but Iowa's football team since 2000, you'd be way ahead

Obviously, Iowa's football team has won more than it lost since 2000. The Hawkeyes' record since Y2K is 87-49.
But the Hawkeyes have been money against the Las Vegas point spreads in this millennium, as well. Iowa is 77-51-3 vs. the spread since 2000, with just one losing season (a 2-10 debacle in 2006).
This season, Iowa hasn't delivered as much bang for the bettors' buck. After a push against Ohio State (the Buckeyes were a 3-point favorite and won 20-17 - before you say those handicappers are amazing, know that there aren't nearly as many of those ties as you might think), the Hawkeyes are 5-4-1 vs. the spread this year. They are 16-point picks at Minnesota Saturday, as of Monday morning at Wynn Las Vegas.
Here are the Big Ten standings against the spread this season:
Ohio State 8-2-1
Illinois 6-4
Minnesota 6-4
Iowa 5-4-1
Michigan State 5-5
Wisconsin 5-5
Penn State 5-5
Indiana 4-6
Purdue 4-6
Michigan 3-7
Northwestern 2-8
(NOTE: There are no spreads for games against FCS teams. Ohio State is the only Big Ten team that didn't play one.)
Iowa State closed its season 4-7 against the spread.
National leaders:
Oklahoma State 9-2
Northern Illinois 8-1-1
Virginia Tech 8-2
Arkansas 8-2
Hawaii 8-2
Boise State 8-2
North Carolina State 8-2
Ohio State 8--2-1
Boise State exceeds expectations every year. Since 2000, the Broncos are 83-46-2 vs. the Vegas number. By comparison, Michigan is 59-70-3.
This year's worst teams vs. the spread:
Buffalo 1-9
Troy 2-8
Northwestern 2-8
Rutgers 2-7
Texas is a mere 3-8.
