I like this, I like this a lot . . .

Doubt it would happen and I feel a little weird agreeing with Phil Fulmer and Nick Saban, but an early signing period is long overdue in college football.

Urban Meyer doesn't want this to happen because Florida is a program that can sashay into a recruit's life on the morning of signing day and rip a kid away from the Vanderbilts, Wake Forests and, yeah, Iowas of the college football world.
I like because it would take some pressure off kids, a kid like David Barrent. The West Des Moines Valley prospect committed to Iowa. If he signed in November (I think it should be September), he wouldn't have to listen to the pressure pitches from desperate coaches. He could, you know, live his life and be a student kid/happy senior.
College football needs this. It's quickly becoming Major League Baseball, except the Yankees-to-Royals ratio is even uglier.
