Mike Hlas Jun. 21, 2010 2:43 pm
But just the 37th-best quarterbacks?
Phil Steele's annual college football review always ranks individuals and units. I gave you Steele's individual Iowa players that were ranked in this Hlog post.
Here is how the Hawkeyes rank in his top units:
Quarterbacks: Iowa is 37th. This surprises me, because Ricky Stanzi is his No. 11 individual quarterback, and backup James Vandenberg is No. 45. Phil, this seems inconsistent. Iowa State is No. 35, though Austen Arnaud was his No. 57 individual.
Other Big Ten teams (37 teams were listed): 4. Ohio State. 21. Michigan.
Running backs: Iowa is 31st.
Other Big Ten teams (35 teams were listed): 6. Wisconsin, 7. Penn State, 18. Ohio State.
Receivers: Iowa is not in Steele's top 34.
