Hlas' AP Top 25 ballot
Mike Hlas Oct. 16, 2011 10:34 am
The top nine teams in last week's Associated Press college football Top 25 won Saturday by an average margin of 30.5 points.
As thrilling Saturdays in the college football annals go, this wasn't one of them. But that's not my problem.
1. LSU (7-0)
2. Alabama (7-0)
3. Oklahoma (6-0)
4. Wisconsin (6-0). Plays at Michigan State Saturday. It's the first real road game for the Badgers, though they played Northern Illinois in Chicago.
5. Boise State (7-0). If the Broncos were in the Big East this year, the Big East would have something.
6. Oklahoma State (6-0). At Missouri Saturday. That's a test.
7. Clemson (7-0). Someone tweeted Saturday that Temple is the best team in the ACC. That was funny.
8. Stanford (6-0).
9. Oregon (5-1). Goes to Colorado this week to prove Ducks can trample Buffaloes.
10. Kansas State (6-0). Has won as the underdog four consecutive weeks.
11. Arkansas (5-1)
12. Nebraska (5-1). After a week off, Huskers go to Minnesota. The score will be close. That being the number of Nebraska fans in the stadium compared to the number of Gopher fans. Well, maybe it won't be all that close.
13. Michigan State (5-1). Wisconsin-MSU is the biggest game in the history of inter-Legends/Leaders matchups, unless you think it was Nebraska-Wisconsin.
14. South Carolina (6-1). Steve Spurrier, however, zoomed to the top this week in coaches who act like twits.
15. Texas A&M (4-2). Coming to Ames Saturday, and is better than Texas.
16. West Virginia (5-1)
17. Michigan (6-1)
18. Washington (5-1). Headed for Stanford Saturday. But it's been a nice half-season.
19. Notre Dame (4-2). Someone will comment here that I have the Irish ranked too high. I do not care.
20. Georgia Tech (6-1)
21. Virginia Tech (6-1)
22. USC (5-1). It still befuddles me that the Trojans only beat Minnesota by two points in the season-opener.
23. Georgia (5-2)
24. Illinois (6-1). Ohio State is still Ohio State to some teams.
25. Arizona State (5-2)
