Hawkeyes rally falls short, loses at Northwestern

Iowa rallied from a 13-point first-half deficit but couldn't match Northwestern's 3-point shooting in a 73-70 loss tonight at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
It was Iowa's third-straight loss to the Wildcats. Iowa falls to 10-16 overall, 3-11 in Big Ten.

After a horrendous start, Iowa's men's basketball team rallied late in the first half and trails Northwestern 39-37 tonight at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
The Wildcats stormed to a 22-9 lead, aided by five 3-point baskets. Iowa Coach Fran McCaffery yanked his starters off the floor and replaced them with five players off the bench.
After the teams traded 3-pointers, Iowa (10-15, 3-10 Big Ten) went on a 25-10 run. Iowa freshman Zach McCabe, who scored a combined four points in the last three games, finished the half with 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Center Jarryd Cole scored nine points, while Matt Gatens added eight.
Luka Mirkovic leads Northwestern with eight points. Drew Crawford and Michael Thompson each have seven.
Northwestern (14-10, 4-9) has beaten Iowa in the teams' last two meetings, including a 90-71 beatdown in Iowa City last month.
