Hawkeyes in the NFL: Jordan Bernstine carted off field with knee injury

UPDATE: Mike Jones of the Washington Post reported Monday afternoon that Bernstine is out for the year with a torn ACL, PCL, and MCL.

Sunday marked Jordan Bernstine's first regular-season game as an NFL player. Now we wait to see when his second game will be.

Bernstine suffered a sprained knee while on the field during a kickoff return for the Washington Redskins in their win at New Orleans, and was carted off. After the game, he had a cast on the injured leg.

Washington Coach Mike Shanahan said "He'll be out."

Bernstine was a seventh-round 2012 draft pick out of Iowa.

Two other Iowa rookies, Green Bay Packers defensive end Mike Daniels and Redskins offensive guard Adam Gettis, were inactive Sunday. Daniels was a fourth-round draft pick, Gettis a fifth-rounder.

Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway had 13 tackles in his team's 26-23 overtime win over Jacksonville. Only one player in the NFL had more tackles on Sunday, linebacker A.J. Hawk of Green Bay.

Greenway also had a diving break-up of a Blaine Gabbert pass on the Jaguars' final possession.

The Vikings are in a three-way tie for first-place in the NFC North with Chicago and Detroit at 1-0. Green Bay is in last place at 0-1.

Shonn Greene of Iowa had a workhorse first game of the season with the New York Jets, with 27 carries for 94 yards and a touchdown.

That gives him 22 more carries and 83 more yards than teammate Tim Tebow.
