Ferentz talks at Johnson County I-Club Breakfast
Oct. 1, 2010 7:45 am
Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz said Friday at the Johnson County I-Club Breakfast that former players Albert Young, Chad Greenway and Tony Moeaki attended practice on Thursday.
Ferentz touted Penn State as a formidable opponent, verified by its 51 wins the last five years. He also mentioned that Iowa's average margin of victory in the series is 6 points, while Penn State's average margin of victory is 22 points.
Five different Orange Bowl representatives are in Iowa City at the breakfast, plus Jeff Rubin, the head of the Florida Sports Commission. The Orange Bowl representatives also attended Thursday's practice.
Ferentz joked that representative Larry Gautier is now paying taxes in Iowa. Gautier has made several visits to watch Iowa in the last two years.
Newman Catholic Rev. Ed Fitzpatrick joked the last time he gave the invocation was two years ago when Daniel Murray, an Iowa City Regina graduate, kicked a last-second field goal to beat Penn State 24-23. In a bit of banter, Ferentz later asked Fitzpatrick if quarterback Rick Stanzi was also Catholic. Stanzi graduated from Lake Catholic High School in Mentor, Ohio.
