Even though Dublin (Ohio) Scioto finished just 5-5 this season, the school still sent three players off to FBS schools with scholarships.
Defensive tackle Tyler Harrell landed at Iowa.
Harrell, a 6-2, 230 pounder, earned special mention all-state as a senior last season. He also was first team all-Ohio district and second team Columbus metro this season.
He was third on Scioto's team with 69 tackles. He had seven tackles for loss, eight pass deflections, three sacks and an interception.
He's also a member of Scioto's basketball team.
"Tyler had a big upside in that he's almost 6-4 and can put on size, runs a sub-4.7 for the 40 and is athletic enough to play linebacker," Scioto coach Karl Johnson told the Columbus Dispatch. "He's always been a good athlete with a great frame, and a fast motor who has the ability to play in space, which will help in college."
Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz sees Harrell on the outside at D-end, but he could also slide inside.
"Tyler is more of a linear-type of guy, so I kind of foresee him being on the edge," Ferentz said. "We'll just have to see what happens. There's a certain knack you have to have to play inside. We'll see if they (referring to all Iowa's DL recruits) have that or not and go from there."
