Ex-Hawkeye Seth Olsen: Unemployed to NFL starter
Mike Hlas Oct. 28, 2011 12:22 pm
Seth Olsen's NFL odyssey hadn't been much to write about after he finished his Iowa football career following the 2008 season.
Olsen was a fourth-round draft pick of the Denver Broncos in 2009, but played in just three games for them. He spent the 2010 season on the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad. The Vikings cut him just before this season started. Two days later, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts.
The injury-ravaged, winless Colts are starting Olsen at offensive guard Sunday, Olsen's first NFL start.
He was a first-team all-Big Ten player in 2008 on both the coaches and media teams, and was Academic All-Big Ten.
The Colts' will also have a first-time NFL starter at the other guard spot in Mike Tepper.
Indianapolis has four ex-Hawkeyes in Olsen, Pat Angerer, Dallas Clark and A.J. Edds.
