Ex-Hawkeye Jeff Peterson looking at Arkansas
Mike Hlas Apr. 19, 2009 12:11 pm
Transferring point guard Jeff Peterson may have higher sights than returning home to Springfield, Mo., and playing for Missouri State of the Missouri Valley Conference.
Not that there's anything wrong with Missouri State or the Valley, folks.
But one-fourth of Iowa's "Team Exodus" has visited Arkansas of the Southeastern Conference this weekend according to Friday's Arkansas Democrat Gazette.
Richard Davenport of the Democrat Gazette:
Arkansas will host two basketball recruits on official visits this weekend: Forward Glenn Bryant, 6-7, 200, of Oak Hill Academy in Virginia and Jeff Peterson, a 6-0, 190-pound guard from Springfield, Mo., who plans to transfer from Iowa. ...
Peterson, who played at De-Matha High School in Washington, D.C., averaged 5.2 points a game his freshman year and 10.6 points this past season while hitting 40 percent of his three-point shots. He started 25 games this season for the Hawkeyes before missing the last seven games because of injury.
Not that Arkansas is the beast of the SEC. John Pelphrey's team is coming off a 2-14, last-place finish in the league. Its leading scorer and rebounder, Michael Washington, has made himself available for the NBA draft.
