ESPN names talent for Aplington-Parkersburg game
Aug. 20, 2009 10:44 pm
ESPN will send four recognizable commentators to Parkersburg next week as the cable television network airs the Aplington-Parkersburg home opener against Dike-New Hartford on Aug. 28.
Reece Davis, who anchors College Football Live and other ESPN programs, will call the play-by-play. Former New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs coach Herman Edwards and former Ohio State and Detroit Lions linebacker Chris Spielman will provide analysis. Reporter George Smith, who spent time in Parkersburg earlier this summer, will report from the sidelines.
ESPN and KCRG-TV9 will air the game live, and ESPN will host a pregame show. It's the first game in Parkersburg more than 30 years without legendary Ed Thomas, who was murdered June 24.
