Eight FBS-vs.-FCS games Thursday, none good
Mike Hlas Sep. 2, 2011 7:30 am
Nothing that happened Thursday night bodes well for Tennessee Tech of the FCS classification giving FBS Iowa a ballgame on Saturday.
The big boys won all eight games against the FCS guys. The combined score was 329-89. That means the average margin of victory was 29.9 points.
The closest game was Louisville's 21-9 win over Murray State of the Ohio Valley Conference, which also calls Tennessee Tech a member. Louisville jumped to a 21-0 lead and must have gotten sleepy after that.
The other scores:
Temple 42, Villanova 7
Central Michigan 21, South Carolina State 6
Toledo 58, New Hampshire 22
Georgia Tech 63, Western Carolina 21
Rutgers 48, North Carolina Central 0
Utah 27, Montana State 10
Arizona State 48, Cal-Davis 14
There will be lots of other FBS-FCS clashes before the weekend is over. Who doesn't savor the prospect of watching tonight's Youngstown State-Michigan State game, or Saturday's battles like Chattanooga-Nebraska and Indiana State-Penn State?
