Edds on shoulder chips, advice and downtown

A.J. Edds is a senior and he's at that time in his life where he needs to think about getting a job.
Yes, he'll probably have the NFL option. But real life-wise, he's thinking athletics administration. I think that's a wrong turn. The guy is a broadcaster in training. Thinks on his feet, quick with the quip and he does excellent impersonations. It didn't work for me (phone crapped out), but check the Big Ten Network's website eventually for Edds' impersonation of coach Kirk Ferentz. It's good stuff. (BTW, he said former QB Jake Christensen -- Eastern Illinois, it looks like -- was the team leader in impersonations.)
Here, he talks about the chip on the shoulder that Iowa players use for motivation, his career advice to fellow linebacker Pat Angerer and the downtown situation. Players were banned from Iowa City downtown this summer. Edds said Ferentz's call and right call.
Wearing a pink cowboy hat, Iowa Hawkeyes A.J. Edds runs into the tunnel after their 31-10 victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks at the Outback Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Fla., Jan. 1, 2009. (Jonathan D. Woods/The Gazette)
