Former - as of recently - Iowa basketball player David Palmer apparently has narrrowed his college choices to two.
Palmer can't transfer to a Division I program since he has already spent his one allowed redshirt year, at Iowa. So he's going Division II.
And the candidates are, according to his mother in a Cincinnati Enquirer story, Northern Kentucky and Southern Indiana.
Palmer went from Seton Hall to Iowa, transferring into Steve Alford's program. Alford left and Palmer was basically stuck at Iowa with his redshirt burned. He spent two years with Todd Lickliter as his coach, and saw precious little playing time.
He did start five games in the season just ended. He scored 40 points in a two-game stretch. But he was used only because Lickliter ran out of options with Cyrus Tate injured.
"I told him things happen for a reason and it can't break your spirit," Sharon Palmer, David's mother, told the Enquirer. "He doesn't have to have the hoopla and television and all that that comes with Division I. I told him, 'It's not how many times you're on TV that defines you; it's what you do.'
"I'm going to support him whatever his decision."
